Ram Nath Kovind to take oath as India’s 14th President shortly

Ram Nath Kovind will take oath as country’s 14th President today. Kovind will be sworn-in by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar at Parliament House.

Ram Nath Kovind, 71, is second Dalit President after KR Narayanan to walk into the 340-room Rashtrapati Bhavan. Kovind defeated Congress-led Opposition’s candidate former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar by a handsome margin of 65.2 per cent votes.

The ceremony of assumption of office by Ramnath Kovind, the President-elect, will be held at 12.15 PM in the Central Hall of Parliament.
