Hyderabad: In an effort to ease traffic movement at the bustling intersection in the city, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated a one of a kind skywalk tower at Uppal Chowrasta on Saturday.

Built by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)  at a cost of Rs.36.50 crore, the skywalk would provide a great relief to the pedestrians who would otherwise put their lives at risk by criss-crossing the busiest intersection in the city.

The skywalk spans a length of 665 meters, with a vertical width of 4 meters and a height of six meters. It also provides better access to bus stops and the metro station on either side of the Uppal X roads.

The convenience and accessibility of the skywalk users have also been considered during its construction. The skywalk has  4 escalators, and 6 staircases positioned at 8 strategic locations. Later in the day, KTR also unveiled the Convention Center constructed at Shilparamam in Uppal Bhagayat.
